Director of Research Coordination and Promotion
The Directorate of Research Coordination and Promotion (DRCP), is responsible for managing, coordinating and promoting research in the country. This directorate has three sections namely: Life sciences which deals with sciences relating to health, natural sciences, agriculture and the environment; Physical sciences which deals with water, industry, energy, and infrastructure, as well as Social sciences which deals with education, economics, policy, demography and sociology
Responsibilities
To formulate National Research Priorities
To formulate short and long-term plans and programmes for promotion and development of scientific research in the fields of Life, Physical and Social Sciences
To coordinate and promote scientific research in the fields of Life, Physical and Social Science
To coordinate and facilitate the utilization of research results for socio-economic development
To coordinate and facilitate the utilization of research results for socio-economic development
To promote and coordinate cooperation in research between national and foreign research institutes
To monitor and keep up-to date inventory of scientific activities and research equipment and an up-date directory of research scientists in national universities and research institutes
To organize regular meetings of the R&D Advisory Committees on Life, Physical and Social Sciences and implement their advises and directives
To formulate and prepare research project proposals for the purpose of soliciting funds from donors and other sources
To identify potential value chain areas/niches for research
